In the cradle of civilization, where the echoes of ancient philosophers and Christian saints still reverberate through the cobblestone streets, Greece emerges as a timeless muse for analog photographers. With each delicate click of the shutter, we capture more than just images – we immortalize the essence of a land steeped in history, myth, and enduring beauty.
As the Greek sun bathes the landscape in a golden hue, we load our cameras with film, not merely seeking to capture scenes, but to encapsulate emotions. With each frame, we delve deeper into the rich tapestry of Greek life, from the azure sea to the weathered stones, from the timeless boats to the spirited people.
Yet, it is not just the images that linger in our minds, but the palpable sense of longing that accompanies them. For Greece, with its intoxicating blend of history and hospitality, leaves an indelible mark on the soul. And so, as we gaze through the lens, we are reminded that true beauty transcends time and space.
To acquire a piece of this timeless journey, one must listen closely to the whispers of the wind and the secrets of the sea, for within each photograph lies a fragment of the Greek soul, waiting to be captured and cherished for eternity.
Who am I? An artist, an icon painter, a jeweler, a photographer, a contemplator of beauty or a co-creator to the Creator?
As a child, my father took me with him to the development room with a dim red light, and I watched the mystery when the invisible became apparent and turned into a story. This extraordinary transition has accompanied me all my life. When I learned oil painting, egg tempera or melted metal, the memory of analog photography appeared in me. On the day when I turned 50, the war began, and I was again, as in childhood, in a dark room. Tape. Development. Print. Native smell. A new story is born through the red light, giving hope and leading to peace and love.
Always with love to you, priest, eternal punk, Abbot Aurora.
