In the realm of analog photography, where time slows down and moments are captured on film, the road becomes a metaphor for our ceaseless exploration of life. “On the road” resonates with a deep sense of journey, summing up the essence of our existence. It is in this nomadic realm that I find solace, armed with my trusty film camera and an unwavering passion to capture the road less traveled.
Analog photography is an art form that transports us to a bygone era where patience and focus reign supreme. With each click of the shutter, the process begins light dances on the silver halides, imprinting a hidden image on the film. It is a dance between the artist and the medium, where the photographer becomes an alchemist, transforming fragments of reality into timeless moments frozen in silver.
A dark room is where the magic really unfolds. The process of manual printing takes us on a journey of revelations and discoveries. Through careful manipulation of light and chemicals, shadows appear, reflections dance, and the road materializes before our eyes. Each print is evidence of the artist’s unique vision and skill, a tangible artifact of his creative soul.
But beyond the technical details lies a deep emotional connection. The road represents the constant flow of life, a path leading to unknown places. It is in these captured frames that we find fragments of ourselves, reflections of our own fleeting journey. The road becomes a visual poem, inviting us to contemplate the stories unfolding on its winding curves.
In inviting you to immerse yourself in the world of analog photography, I offer a subtle invitation to explore your own artistic endeavors. Through my lens, I want to capture the raw beauty of the road, its hidden corners, and untold stories. Each photograph contains a hidden message, a whisper that prompts you to own a piece of that captured essence, a tangible reminder of the roads we travel.
Analog photography, with its meditative pace and palpable artistry, elevates the art form to new heights. This is a testament to the enduring power of the film and the creative spirit of those who share its mystique. Let’s embark together on this road where art and life intertwine, and where the power of photography is revealed with every step we take.
Who am I? An artist, an icon painter, a jeweler, a photographer, a contemplator of beauty or a co-creator to the Creator?
As a child, my father took me with him to the development room with a dim red light, and I watched the mystery when the invisible became apparent and turned into a story. This extraordinary transition has accompanied me all my life. When I learned oil painting, egg tempera or melted metal, the memory of analog photography appeared in me. On the day when I turned 50, the war began, and I was again, as in childhood, in a dark room. Tape. Development. Print. Native smell. A new story is born through the red light, giving hope and leading to peace and love.
Always with love to you, priest, eternal punk, Abbot Aurora.
